Seven days has passed since the start of the year. I’m wondering if this year would be the one that will have the most breakthrough, or just another hundred days of nothingness. I hope this would be the former. But for that to happen, we must be proactive, have more action in our days instead of being passive.
Just started the year with some counseling. About 4 years ago, I started to have counseling to realign my thoughts, actions and life-path into something that is worth living for. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Now, it’s been a yearly event, from weekly to monthly to 6 months at a time. I’ve become wiser, and more resilient. But it’s not just about the counseling, it’s about doing your share of the work.
In the age of attention economy, it’s really hard to be an exception. I really have close to zero social media presence, although I repost some memes, and greet friends on their birthdays, plus holidays. Just have a few messaging apps, so that I can reach out with family and friends and people can contact me. Having a low profile in social media, while working towards my dreams and my self-improvement, is like the old military mantra, “stay low, and let’s go”. You don’t have to share everything, just the bare minimum to know that you’re still alive.
Just want to share something. Sometimes we underestimate the power of our own self. I’ve been exercising for the longest time at 30 mins, usually with a walk or stationary bike. No effect. Might be that I have been inconsistent and lazy, or 30 mins is just the bare minimum for me. Three days ago, I went all out and had 1 hour bike and 1 hour walk, for a total of 2 hours. Breaking the limits on the mind, the body responds with renewed capabilities. A win for me, now the question is the sustainability. Life has its twists and curves; you just have to deal with it.
Pick your path, try out things, and if it clicks, prepare to give your all.
Thank you for reading. All the best for all of us this new year.
